PLANS to roll out new parking restrictions across huge areas of the city will be debated by councillors today.

Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) covering the Leys, Rose Hill, Iffley, Headington and Wolvercote will be discussed by Oxfordshire county councillors.

Officers have proposed the rules for a total of nine new zones, with the highest priority in the eastern half of the city.

The aim is to stop commuters, shoppers and tourists taking up residential parking spaces.

It comes after a public consultation on the plans in November and December which was responded to by 2,770 people.

Members of public are welcome to sit in on today's meeting at County Hall, Oxford, from 10am.
