THE future of a 300-year-old oak tree will be debated by councillors tomorrow, thanks to support from nature lovers.
The tree in Madley Park, Witney, could be removed by West Oxfordshire District Council as it is damaging an adjacent property.
But an online petition calling for the council to preserve the tree has been signed by more than 1,100 people before today’s deadline, surpassing the 750 signatures needed for a formal debate.

The petition will be formally presented at tomorrow's full council meeting, which takes place at 2pm at Woodgreen, Witney.
A council spokesperson said: "The Council will consider all the specific actions it can potentially take on the issues highlighted in a petition."
