A SPATE of fires in a West Oxfordshire town were set by young people, according to police.

An alert from officers said over the last few weeks there had been several small fires lit around Carterton, including behind the skatepark and 'a number of youths' had now been identified as responsible and dealt with.

Carterton Neighbourhood Team said it would continue to work with the fire service 'to educate the offenders re the dangers of their actions' and would 'deal robustly' with those responsible. Police asked residents to be vigilant and get in touch with information.
