A POLICE officer has been charged with assaulting a young girl in Oxford 28 years ago.
James Chapman, a 43-year-old sergeant based in West Berkshire, was today charged via postal requisition with indecent assault on a girl under 14 years old.
The charge is in connection with an incident at a property in Oxford in 1991.

Sergeant Chapman was arrested on September 17 last year and suspended from duty.
He is due to appear at Oxford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, May 21.
