A CARE home has welcomed some feathered additions to its family.

Residents and staff at Rosebank Care Home, Bampton, witnessed the birth of six chicks just in time for Easter.

Orville and King Albert were joined by Bob, Primrose, Lucky and Thor and have since proved very popular with staff and residents.

The newborns will soon be taken on by loving families.

Rosebank Care Home owner, Jane Roberts, said: “We were thrilled to see the chicks enter the world, they’re a real talking point at the home and both the residents and staff are always wanting a cuddle with their new housemates.

“The chicks give the residents a real purpose. They have watched over and cared for them ever since they were eggs and so to have the opportunity to see them grow has been a great privilege and a real honour.”

Animals in care homes have been proven to have a positive effect on the mental wellbeing of residents, helping them to relax, reduce stress and blood pressure levels, as well as giving them an opportunity for interaction.

The care home provides short and long-term care for elderly ladies and gentleman and has an outstanding CQC Rating.

Lifestyle support coordinators are central to daily life at the home and work closely with residents to develop a varied and interactive programme of activities and events each and every day.
