A WOMAN charged with causing a death crash that killed a motorcyclist has made her first appearance at court.

Amanda Day, of Westmead, Princes Risborough, is facing one count of causing death by careless driving and appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Prosecutors claim that the 52-year old's driving resulted in the death of Billy Elbrow, 20, from Abingdon, on the night of August 23 last year at Milton near Didcot.

Emergency services were first called to the scene of the collision at 7.25pm on the A4130 at the Milton Interchange.

Mr Elbrow's white Kawasaki motorcycle had crashed with a silver Volkswagen Passat, driven by Day.

South Central Ambulance Service sent three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance to the scene, and the road was closed while police investigated.

Mr Elbrow later died at the John Radcliffe Hospital after suffering multiple injuries as a result of the collision.

"Billy is also a much-loved brother, grandson, nephew, boyfriend and friend to so many.

"Billy was a happy-go-lucky chap who loved and lived life to the full."

While no formal plea was given at the court appearance yesterday Day did made an indication to the court that she intended to plead not guilty to the offence.

Day will next appear at Oxford Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing to be held on May 3.

She was released on bail in the meantime.
