A SWORD was seized by police after they searched a vehicle in Oxford.

The large blade was discovered by officers in Littlemore at the weekend, and three men are now under investigation for possessing the weapon and for drugs offences.

An image of the sword was shared on the Thames Valley Police Oxford Facebook page this afternoon.

Officers said it was found 'during a search of a vehicle and its occupants,' but did not give any further details about the location or time, nor the suspected drugs offences.

The discovery was made by the Rose Hill, Littlemore and Iffley neighbourhood policing team.

In a separate search at the weekend, the same team also chased a woman on foot and detained her.

She was searched for drugs and found to be in possession of cannabis, and given a caution.

Last year the neighbourhood officers, who are based at Rose Hill Community Centre, said strengthening links with the community was key to tackling crime in the area.
