Have you seen a big cat?

Sightings of the mysterious beasts have been reported in their thousands across the country over the years.

And now Britain's big cat outbreak has deepened after a SECOND one the size of an 'Alsatian' was spotted in less than a week.

Shocked Becky Abrey was celebrating her birthday with a family meal when she spotted the huge beast.

It appeared in a field near a beachfront car park and Becky was able to capture footage that has now been sent to experts.

Her sighting comes just days after the small village of Harrowbarrow in Cornwall spoke of their fears that a large panther-like big cat was stalking them.

Concern was raised for the safety of children and animals after FIVE cats went missing in a week - and a dog attacked by a ''panther or puma''.

Forensic experts were called to the village near Callington in Cornwall and took a plaster cast.

Officials have confirmed the prints - measuring almost five inches - are that of a big cat and police say "something has been here which should not be".

And hopes that the big cat outbreak could be contained have now been dashed after Cornwall after Becky's sighting of one near Penzance, Cornwall.

Becky, 28, said she always had doubts about the reported sightings, including many of those linked to the so-called Beast of Bodmin, but was now convinced of their presence.

But now she is a believer in the huge beasts - after seeing one with her own eyes on Sunday at Praa Sands with her mum, Kim Cutter, and fiance Jon Jones.

She said: "We had just had Sunday lunch and went for a walk on the beach and came back to the car and it was just on the field. It was the car park opposite the bar and looks up towards the field.

"I was on the phone with mt fiance's grandmother wishing me a happy birthday and just said, 'there's a big cat, I've got to put the phone down.

"I've seen so many articles about them and there are never any pictures of them and I wanted to get pictures an video.

"I saw the one this week and was thinking, 'does it really exist?' "Now I've seen it and know that it does.

"I didn't want to get too close and zoomed in and out so you can get some perspective. It was at least Alsatian sized or bigger.

"When I read about them I always think, 'it's just a decent-sized farm cat' but this certainly wasn't."

She added: "It's crazy. I still can't quite believe it. Honestly, it was huge, far bigger than any domestic cat.

"I feel like I imagined everyone saw it. It's like seeing the Loch Ness Monster."

The sighting comes just days after James Stephenson, 23, said his dog was left bleeding from its injuries and with claw marks on its shoulder.

He said there had been talk of the beast in his village of Harrowbarrow for a few weeks and two days before it attacked his Labrador, Marley, he came face to face with it himself.

He added: "Over the last couple of weeks we have seen this large black cat walking down the back wall of the field at the back of our garden.

"We're not sure whether it's a puma or a panther but it's been confirmed that it's a big cat.

"It's a great concern. None of us are resting properly at night."

Oxfordshire's big cat?

In October, two sightings of a 'panther-like' creature were reported in Oxfordshire.

The news that the fabled 'Beast of Burford' has moved to the south of the county was apparently quickly verified by Radley-based Oxford Mail contributor Marc West.

He had his own run-in with a 'jet black' large cat after reading about the experiences of boater Michael Grainger who saw the beast in Culham.
