COWLEY-BASED charity Oxfam is to open its first superstore this summer.

Staff will transform a 14,500 sq ft unit on the Oxford Business Park North in Cowley into a destination shopping experience, which will double as a vibrant community space and include an on-site café, housed in an Oxfam water tank.

Work is under way to create the new venture, which will offer a treasure trove of donated items and goods from the ‘Sourced By Oxfam’ range.

Oxford Mail:

Oxfam’s trading director Andrew Horton said: “We’re so excited about opening our first ever superstore.

"The superstore will be more than a shop – it will be a place for the community to get together, a café, as well as offering a huge choice of bargains and one-of-a-kind finds in a fantastic family friendly environment.”

The store will be open for trading four days a week but will be accepting donations seven days a week.

It will create 11 new jobs and numerous volunteering opportunities.

The store will also support Oxfam’s Future Skills project, a volunteering, training and mentoring project for women in the UK facing barriers to building a better life.

In 2017/18, Oxfam GB helped more people than ever, reaching 14 million people.

Oxfam is calling for people who can spare just a few hours a week to volunteer at the superstore where they can learn new skills, make new friends and help beat poverty too.
