LEGENDARY journalist Bill Heine undoubtedly left his mark on Oxford, having moved here from America decades ago.
From his iconic Headington Shark to his frank words about battling cancer, the memory of the Oxford Mail columnist and former BBC Radio Oxford broadcaster will long live on.
The city awoke to the news this morning that Mr Heine died last night, after being diagnosed with a terminal form of leukaemia in July 2017.

His file in the Oxford Mail's archive amassed scores of photos charting his life, including his time running the Penultimate Picture Palace in East Oxford and Moulin Rouge Cinema in Headington.

Over the years we have pictured Mr Heine abseiling down Carfax Tower, strolling through Oxford with Colin Dexter, posing on roofs next to various controversial sculptures, and being pushed into Hinksey Pool by the Bishop of Oxford.
Invariably he is grinning at the camera, even when the story was reporting on criticism of his latest antics.
