A MAN 'grabbed' a woman and hurled her phone across Port Meadow after his golden retrievers attacked her dog.

Thames Valley Police said the dog attack happened at about 8am on Saturday at the Oxford meadow, after which the woman was assaulted after confronting the owner.

A couple were walking their dog when they were approached by a man in his 60s and a younger man, who were walking two golden retrievers.

The retrievers ran up to the dog and started to attack it, and the couple tried to wrestle their pet free.

After they had got their dog away the men started to walk off out of Port Meadow.

The woman followed them to try and get their details to report the attack.

As she approached the men, the younger man grabbed the woman’s arms and caused a 'minor injury.'

Police said he then snatched her phone and threw it across the field.

The two men then walked off and were last seen leaving in the direction of Aristotle Lane. 

The older man is described as white, aged in his 60s, with a slim build and between 5ft 9ins and 5ft 10ins tall.

He had short white or grey hair, was clean shaven and was wearing glasses.

He was wearing a dark mackintosh and dark coloured trousers, and spoke with an English accent.

The younger man is described as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, with a slim build and dark hair.

He had dark stubble and was wearing a beanie hat, dark jacket, darker blue jeans and spoke with a southern English accent.

Investigating officer PC Robert Coombes, based at Cowley Police Station, said: "This incident occurred in broad daylight in a public park on a Saturday morning.

"I am appealing for anyone that was there and witnessed what happened to come forward and contact police.

"I am appealing to anyone who could help identify these men."
