PEOPLE can get creative at a community painting session taking place this Saturday.

Barton Neighbourhood Centre is inviting people to paint the new mural that will cover the external wall of its sports centre.

It is designed by local artist Merlin Porter who has used ideas from Barton residents and will be working with the Barton Art Club to draw the design onto the wall.

People who live and work in Barton are invited to come along and help colour it in.

Vouchers will be awarded to two volunteers who have been the most dedicated on the day.

Councillor Marie Tidball, Board Member for Supporting Local Communities, said: “I’m really pleased to invite people who live and work in Barton to come and help paint the new community mural. I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed their time, efforts and ideas.

"Saturday should be a fun day out for people of all ages and abilities, and there’s no need to bring anything as free refreshments and painting materials will be available. Spread the word and come to the Neighbourhood Centre on Saturday.”

The painting session stats from 11am.
