A HIGH end bath and body products retailer is closing its Oxford store.

Crabtree and Evelyn in Queen Street will cease trading on Wednesday.

The shop is selling off all its products in a final sale with discounts of up to 70 per cent available.

Signs have been put up in the windows advising customers of the store's imminent departure.

It comes as part of a raft of closures nationwide as the lotion seller increasingly moves its business online.

Physical shops in Chichester and York have also been shut since the start of the year with just one London-based 'concept store' remaining.

Named after 17th century horticulturist John Evelyn, the shop specialises in natural beauty products.

Fears have been raised recently about the number of empty shops in Oxford with 30 more empty units in the city centre than six months ago.

A public meeting is being held on Wednesday to bring together concerned campaigners to come with ideas about how to fill empty units.
