A CYCLIST has been seriously injured in an hit and run in Oxford.

The 20-year-old woman was involved in a crash with a red Renault Clio in Iffley Road last night.

It happened somewhere between the junction with The Plain roundabout and Circus Street shortly after 7pm.

Three men believed to be in the car failed to stop at the scene.

The area around The Plain roundabout has long been considered an accident black spot for cyclists, and was named the 'second most dangerous' in the country in 2017. Read more here. 

Thames Valley Police said two men have since been arrested, a 21-year-old and 19-year-old both from Oxford. They both remain in police custody.

The cyclist was rushed to the John Radcliffe Hospital with 'serious injuries' according to Thames Valley Police.

Investigating officer PC Sandra Terry, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or has footage of the collision or vehicle to contact the police as soon as possible.
