BESTSELLING author Shrabani Basu is visiting Oxfordshire to talk about a Second World War radio operator.
The writer will visit Banbury Town Hall on Friday, March 29 at 7pm to give a talk on Noor Inayat Khan.
She was the first woman to be infiltrated into occupied France as a Special Operations Executive radio operator during the war.
The spy was a descendant of Tipu Sultan, 18th century ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore and the subject of Ms Basu’s book, Spy Princess: The Life of Noor Inayat Khan.

The SOE operative had the codename Madeleine and refused to abandon her post despite the dangers.
Her extraordinary bravery would see her posthumously awarded the George Cross.
Ms Basu set up the Noor Inayat Khan Memorial Trust in 2010, and a memorial was opened in London by Princess Anne in 2012.

The talk will be a fundraiser for the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock.
The museum includes a ‘Secret War’ exhibit featuring Noor Inayat Khan and other women involved in wartime espionage operations along with its other county and regimental collections.
