IN the last six years 36 drivers from across the Thames Valley have been killed after not wearing a seat belt.

880 drivers have also been prosecuted for seat belt offences in the last year.

Now, in a bid to tackle these figures, the force will be carrying out a roadshow-style week of checking belts and child seats.

Sargent Rob Heard said the statistics are not in the favour of drivers who don't strap in, explaining that you are twice as likely to die without a belt on.

The team will be stopping in Bicester's Tesco on Friday from 10am until 2pm, and will be joined by Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue.
