A FLURRY of snow made a surprise appearance in Oxfordshire this weekend.

A heavy shower fell across the county shortly after 5pm on Sunday and has moved across the county - including in Oxford, Grove, Banbury, Didcot, Faringdon and Kidlington, according to Oxford Mail readers.

The snow had not been predicted by forecasters and delivered another twist during a day of unexpected weather, which has also seen powerful winds and a downpour of hail.

The unseasonal sprinkling started at about 5pm and the Met Office said there was a chance more light snow from 7pm in some areas of the county, particularly North Oxfordshire.
