AN increase in cold callers across Oxfordshire has prompted a warning from the county’s trading standards officers.

County council staff said during the past fortnight they have received a growing number of reports about cold callers - who may be thieves or con artists - offering services such as roofing and gardening.

In the year to March 2018, doorstep criminals across the county pocketed an estimated £373,000 from dodgy deals and scams.

Although trading standards officers have issued the warning they have pointed out in the past that the majority of traders do work legitimately.
