MORE details over what action the county council has taken following Carillion’s collapse 14 months ago will be given to councillors this afternoon.

Last autumn, the council said it was going to reveal the ‘very significant’ sum for how much it would need to pay to fix problems with the company’s work.

But that figure is still outstanding. It is unclear whether that will be revealed today at the council's audit committee.

The council terminated a £500m deal with Carillion in December 2017, paying about £119m of that.

The company collapsed in January 2018, causing a host of major projects, including hospitals, to be delayed.

A freedom of information request last year revealed the council had paid for 599 projects to be done by Carillion or its contractors.

The average cost of those projects was about £200,000, with the most expensive at Great Western Park in Didcot. That cost about £10m.

Work on the Longford Park development in Banbury cost the council £8.75m.

The council paid £10.65m to end its contract with Carillion. It had been due to last until 2022 after a 10-year contract was signed in 2012.

Auditors said earlier this year that the county council could have understated the money it owes after the company's collapse.
