A WITNESS has described the scene of the horse ‘laying motionless’ on Oxford Ring Road.
A driver, who asked not to be named, was in the queue of standstill traffic that ground to a halt for about half an hour after a horse escaped from its field because vandals destroyed parts of the fence.
He said the force arrived shortly after the traffic built up, adding: “After controlling the situation, a police officer walked back through our standstill traffic approaching van and 4x4 drivers asking if they had a tow hitch.
“Not long after they were allowing traffic through on the inside lane, and as we passed, I could see a motionless horse on its side in the outside lane – with a police car parked as close as possible to cover it.
“There was absolutely no movement from the hose, so I can only presume it was dead.”
It’s the latest incident in the crime spree around Marston.
TVP crackdown on rural crime this week
Last week burglars tore open sheds at Marston Burial Ground, before making their way next door to Mark Baker's house where they smashed up the security cameras – the only lights which would have shown the faces of the gang on his CCTV cameras.
