A DETECTIVE has described the injuries of a man who had his cheek torn off in a vicious nightclub attack as the ‘worst he's ever seen'.

Army driver Keenan Samuelson was sentenced to nine and a half years for biting a fellow clubber at The Bridge Club in Hythe Bridge Street, Oxford in April 2017.

Samuelson of Tyne Road, Abingdon had denied wounding with intent but admitted wounding.

However a jury found him guilty by unanimous verdict.

The 38-year-old victim has been left permanently scarred.

Following the sentencing investigating officer, Detective Constable James Macaro of Force CID in Oxford said he was pleased to see the 27-year-old jailed.

He said: “The injury was severe and resulted in a large portion of the victim’s cheek being torn off.

“It is the worst injury I have ever seen in my career with the police.

“The victim required surgery and will be scarred for life."

One witness of the assault described a piece of flesh flying across the dance floor leaving while the sentencing judge labelled the injury 'horrific'.

DC Macaro added: “I am pleased the jury found Samuelson guilty and he has now been jailed for a significant period.

“This case demonstrates Thames Valley Police’s commitment to bringing violent offenders to justice.”
