WITCHES and wizards of Oxford, have your spells at the ready to bring a display of magnificent, magic wands to our city streets.

To celebrate the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald on DVD, ‘Wizarding World’ wands first seen in central London will go on a tour of the UK, with the lucky towns and cities to be picked by the public.

The nine wands, one for each of the major characters, are 15 feet tall and illuminate each night to music from the Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter films.

The winning cities will host the installation in the run up to the third Fantastic Beasts film, with finalists due to be announced on March 18.

Oxford draws thousands of Harry Potter fans from all over the world every year, keen to get a glimpse of the Bodleian Library, Christ Church and New College, all of which featured in the seven films as the Hogwarts we know today.

The display, first revealed last Autumn, was created in support of Lumos, a charity co-founded by author J.K. Rowling that aims to help children in orphanages grow up with loving families instead.

Josh Berger, President and Managing Director of Warner Bros. Entertainment UK, Eire & Spain: “We were overwhelmed by the response to the Wizarding World Wands supporting Lumos installation in London last year and want to bring the magic to fans across the country.”
