LOOKING to bag yourself a steal? Try Thames Valley police force's eBay page where all the items which have been seized from criminals get auctioned off.

Some of the hottest goods up for grabs this week are questionable baseball bats, fresh alloy wheels and a boxed up 32" TV.

More practical lots like a bundle of Persil pods for the washing machine, Oral-B toothbrushes and Phillips Razors are also up for grabs at a fraction of the retail price.

Oxford Mail:

There is a catch – all winners have to collect the goods in person from Milton Keynes.

But, it's all legitimate – most of the items listed on their selling page, which has racked up more than 10,000 followers, have been handed in at stations as lost or found or have been seized from criminals as evidence.

When nobody claims them, TVP HQ staff make the the decision to destroy it, bin it, donate it or auction it off.

Other lots have included a £2,000 bundle of hallmarked jewellery, a £600 Centrix Men's Watch, a £400 Apple TV, Tom Tom and tablet bundle and a £350 set of power tools.

And all the money heads in the direction of the Police Property Act Fund.

Oxford Mail:

That's a grant which is divvied out to community groups who make a difference across Thames Valley.

The idea is organisations apply with the amount of cash they want and then the police and crime commissioner, Anthony Stansfeld, picks the winners.

In October, grants just shy of £100,000 were given to 20 charities.

Oxfordshire-based 'Reducing the Risk of Domestic Abuse' were handed £4,000 and 'Didcot TRAIN – inspiring young people were granted £5,000.
