AN OXFORD pub has closed its doors to punters for two weeks.

The White Horse on London Road in Headington will reopen with a revamped beer-garden and better drinks range.

Managers behind the hungry horse chain say pumping six-figures into the local boozer will create seven new jobs.

When it kicks open its doors again on March 13, there will be a swish new sports area at the bar with more seats, more TVs and better sound systems.

These Oxfordshire pubs have some of the happiest staff in the UK

Locals will notice the new lights outside, and the tiling work inside which will make it ‘modern’.

On the Thursday, the day after swinging open its doors again, it hopes regulars will spill into the pub ready for a launch party ‘disco style’.

Is this Oxford's most expensive house for sale?

Peter Soulsby-Lee, co-general manager at White Horse Hungry Horse, said: “The White Horse Hungry Horse is at the heart of the local community, so we want to provide our guests with even better surroundings to enjoy a great selection of drinks and sporting events throughout the year.

“We’re really excited to get the refurbishment underway and look forward to welcoming our Oxford neighbours to the revamped venue when it officially opens on Wednesday 13 March.”
