Thames Valley Police has released an appeal for witnesses following the incident in Cowley Road, Littlemore, in the early hours of the morning.

A cash machine was also damaged, but no cash appeared to have been taken, according to the update.

Officers are said to be keeping an open mind about whether this incident is linked to other ATM raids seen in recent months in Eynsham and Abingdon.

The Eynsham attack was captured by the dash cam of a parked car.

A car, believed to be a black Audi, was driven down Cowley Road in the direction of St Nicholas Road before police arrived.

Detective Sergeant George Atkinson of Oxford Area CID based at St Aldates police station, said: “We are in the very early stages of this investigation, and I am appealing to anybody that was in the area at around the time of the incident who believe they witnessed this to contact police.

“I am also appealing to anybody with dash-cam or CCTV footage to get in touch with us.

“There is currently a scene-watch in place while forensic officers examine the scene.

“Although there have been a number of similar such incidents in recent weeks across the region, it is too early to say whether this incident is linked to any other occurrences, and we are keeping an open mind at this time.”

Anybody with any information are urged to call the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 43190059141.
