A VANDAL injured himself while damaging vehicles in Wantage. 

A man caused criminal damage to three vehicles in the town in the early hours of yesterday morning, before burgling an unoccupied property and causing damage inside.

A statement released by Thames Valley Police today said: "The offender was on foot and damaged three vehicles, as a result sustaining injuries causing blood loss."

The damage happened at about 12.55am in Pickering Row, Garston Close and Garston Lane.

Investigating officer PC Shahed Ali, based at Thame police station, said: "I am appealing to anybody who saw this man and witnessed any of the incidents, to contact police.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anybody in the local area who may have CCTV footage that could assist our investigation."

- A 33-year-old man from Wantage has been arrested on suspicion of burglary dwelling with intent to steal, and on suspicion of criminal damage.

He remained in police custody this afternoon.
