A MAN charged with stalking a woman, assaulting her and stealing her underwear has been cleared after prosecutors said there was no realistic prospect of conviction.

Judge Ian Pringle QC entered a formal verdict of not guilty to all four counts against Ronald Pollitt, of Peterley Road, Oxford at Oxford Crown Court today.

The 55-year old appeared having denied two thefts, one assault and another of stalking, all relating to alleged incidents involving one woman between September and October this year at Iffley Road and Barns Road, Oxford.

At the morning hearing the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence and applied to drop the case, and Mr Pollitt was found not guilty to all counts.
