Heavy flurries were predicted to begin at around 9pm and continue into the early hours of tomorrow morning, but the forecast as of 4.30pm had downgraded this to light snow showers.

It comes after what was expected to be the 'coldest night of the year', when temperatures plumetted to -4c, in line with the famously freezing Russian city of Moscow.

Here's the warning that is currently in place.
