POLICE in Oxford are asking residents for their help in combatting 'an increase in graffiti'.

The force say they are aware of a rise in the number of incidents in Jericho and the north and west of the city.

Its appeal is the latest in a series of crackdowns on the problem, and follows a series of complaints late last year.

In December 2017, Oxford City Council declared 'a new war' on graffiti, following a sharp rise in the number of reports.

Today, local police tweeted: "(We) have been made aware of an increase in Graffiti across the neighbourhood in the areas of Abingdon Road, Jericho, West Oxford and North Oxford.

"We need your help locating as much graffiti as possible within this area. We can then carry out any relative enquiries."
