ONE of two men accused of dealing drugs after heroin and crack cocaine was found in a car said he only drove away from police 'in a panic'.

Liam Quinn, 24, of Warwick Road, Banbury, and Dominic Daly-Vint, 26, of no fixed abode, both deny two counts of conspiracy to supply class A drugs, and Quinn denies a further count of possessing criminal property.

As their trial continued at Oxford Crown Court yesterday Quinn continued to give his version of events and deny any wrong doing from the witness box.

Referring to police footage of the incident in the Bretch Hill area of Banbury on the afternoon of April 20 2017 he said that he reversed his car away from police out of sheer panic.

During cross examination with prosecutor William Eaglestone Quinn said that he did not at first know that the unmarked police car was staffed by officers and he had no knowledge of any drug dealing taking place.

He accepted dealing cannabis after pleading guilty to a separate offence but said that he was not a drug dealer.

Mr Eaglestone put to Quinn that he had 'lied' during his police interview and had been in the Banbury area trying to sell drugs on the day he was stopped.

Prosecutors allege that both Quinn and Daly-Vint conspired to deal drugs after officers found class A drugs worth nearly £1,000 in the back seat of Quinn's black VW Golf.

Later that day, jurors were told earlier in the trial, police searched Quinn's home and found cash totalling £3,555 as well as 237g of skunk cannabis, an ounce of cocaine and a set of digital scales.

Both men deny charges the charges against them and the trial continues.
