A JOB role has been created within local authorities for someone to solely deal with the problem of a busy Bicester level crossing.

For years, residents have long called for an answer to what will become of London Road level crossing once East West Rail services come into play.

It has previously been reported that once the new service start barriers at the level crossing will be down for motorists for more than 45 minutes and hour.

What is the problem? Details here

Banbury MP Victoria Prentis joined local councillors to discuss the problem on Monday and said the group looked at cost and planning of a possible solution.

This has included the potential of a bridge or tunnel but residents fear the crossing could be closed to traffic completely.

Mrs Prentis said it is 'critical' that residents are not cut off by a closure and hopes a plan will be in place this year.

Someone is expected to be hired within the council to solely work on the issue of London Road.
