MOTORISTS were urged to take care on the roads this morning after snowfall in Oxfordshire.

Oxfordshire County Council said it received reports of snow 'around the county' at about 7.45am.

Snow had not been forecast for the county today but the Met Office had issued a yellow warning for ice covering the county, which was lifted at midday.

Police advised drivers to take extra care due to the conditions.

Earlier in the week the Met Office had predicted snow in Oxfordshire today, but the forecast changed yesterday.

As soon as the flurries were spotted, social media lit up with annoyed/excited posts about the situation in different parts of the county.

But there has been no significant build up on the ground today, and rain is forecast tomorrow.

The snow did not settle and the rest of the day should be sunny, with temperatures of about 3°C.
