A 14-year-old girl had to be taken to hospital after two teenagers were struck by a bus on Botley Road last night.

South Central Ambulance Service paramedics attended the incident at 5.15pm after receiving multiple calls about two pedestrians being involved in a collision with a bus outside Woodlands Pharmacy.

The teenage girls, both aged 14, had suffered minor injuries, with one of the girls treated at the scene and the other taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital.

An Oxford Bus Company spokesman confirmed it was one of the operator's number four buses that was involved in the incident.

He said: “We can confirm there was a collision between a bus and two pedestrians on the Botley Road at 5.20pm on Monday.

"An ambulance was called, and the pedestrians were treated for minor injuries and the driver for shock.

"An internal investigation has been launched to establish the cause of the collision.”

Part of the road was closed for more than an hour, with police seen directing traffic around the scene at around 6pm.

SCAS spokesman David Gallagher said: "We received a number of 999 calls around 5.15pm yesterday all reporting a collision between a bus and two pedestrians outside Woodlands Pharmacy on Botley Road.

"We sent a paramedic team leader in a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the scene.

"The pedestrians were both 14-year-old girls who had fortunately only sustained minor injuries; one was able to be treated and discharged at the scene and the second required additional treatment at the John Radcliffe Hospital."
