A ROAD in Bicester has reopened ahead of schedule after engineers fixed a burst water main.
Bucknell Road was closed on Wednesday morning after huge streams of water gushed out onto the road, with four homes experiencing 'minor flooding'.
Yesterday, Thames Water said it hoped to reopen the road 'late on Friday or early Saturday' and said resurfacing work would begin today, but the closure was lifted this morning.
The pipe burst underneath the Bucknell Road Railway bridge between Howes Lane and Lords Lane, leaving some houses in the OX26 area with 'no water or low pressure' for a few hours on Wednesday.

Howes Lane and Shakespeare Drive were also closed, causing 'horrendous' traffic in the area, according to one post on a Bicester Facebook page.
The burst was to a nine-inch diameter pipe, with firefighters from Bicester and Eynsham working with Thames Valley Police and Thames Water to fix the issue on Wednesday.
A structural engineer from Network Rail accessed the nearby railway bridge before repairs began.
