FIREFIGHTERS had to force their way into a property and evacuate the sleeping occupant after a fire broke out in the kitchen.
The 2.30am rescue came after the fire service was alerted to a smell of smoke coming from the flat at Halliday Hill in Headington this morning.
Crews forced entry into the property and found the occupier asleep, and a small fire in the kitchen.

They were able to lead the occupant to safety and extinguished the fire.
The person was then treated at the scene by paramedics.
Incident commander, crew manager Guy Morbey, said: “This incident highlights the importance of having working smoke alarms on each level of a property.
“Don’t leave cooking unattended, and make sure you have a fire safety routine before going to bed.
“This should include closing doors to protect your escape route from fire and smoke.”
