A CROSSING on one of Oxford’s busiest roads was reopened yesterday following a two-week closure.
The pelican crossing opposite Headington’s Cancer Research shop on London Road was shut after a car crashed into one of the crossing controls on Christmas Eve.
The driver also destroyed a phone box on the road and four people were injured.

The crossing has since been out of action, and shut off with large orange barriers – which were taken away from the main part of the crossing yesterday.
Residents and Headington councillor Roz Smith voiced their concerns about the dangerous crossing this week when pedestrians were spotted walking around the barriers to cross the road.

Oxfordshire County Council said it reopened the crossing yesterday but the control was still to be replaced.
Spokesman Martin Crabtree said a new control was now 'on order'.
