PLANS to build 'car free' homes in Cowley have been welcomed by transport campaigners.
But The Cowley Area Transport Group has stressed that the planned development in Between Towns Road must be accompanied by controlled parking zones to ensure surrounding streets are not burdened by extra cars.
Oxford City Council wants to build 35 flats and three houses on the former Murco Garage site.
Group member Hazel Dawe said: "This development cannot be permitted to create the risk of parking overspill into neighbouring areas."
