Second annual Potato Day hailed a success
HUNDREDS of growers and organic vegetable aficionados descended on West Oxford Community Centre yesterday for the second annual potato showcase.
Oxford & District Federation of Allotment Associations hosted the Oxford Potato Day event which saw more than 100 varieties of the root vegetable on offer.
Non-spud related produce included shallots, onion sets, rhubarb, asparagus and fruit trees.
Driving force behind the event Wendy Skinner Smith, from west Oxford, praised the turnout on the day. She said the event had become so popular it would return for a third instalment in 2020.
