A FLAGSHIP show on BBC Radio Oxford is set to welcome a new host.

The station is recruiting a presenter for its drive-time programme, which airs from 4pm until 7pm on weekdays.

The successful applicant will replace the show's current host Howard Bentham, who took up the role less than a year ago having been moved from the breakfast show.

In March 2017 Mr Bentham made an apparent dig at his bosses live on air, while announcing the swap.

He said: "I have spent two years presenting this show and trying to make it the very best it can be.

"It appears that is not enough, in the view of our temporary managing editor at least."

The advert for the drive-time presenter does not include a starting date, but states that candidates will be interviewed at the end of January.

It adds: "We’re after an experienced presenter to create a must-listen show, helping our listeners to finish off their workday with a smile."

The new presenter will be part of a wider refresh of the station's schedule this year.

Oxford Mail:

BBC Radio Oxford editor Tim Boswell said: "We know listeners already love BBC Radio Oxford’s mix of great conversation, lively personalities, music and up-to-date news from across Oxfordshire.

"Going into 2019 they can look forward all this plus more local programmes and a great line-up throughout the week of new voices and familiar favourites."
