DRIVERS faced delays on all major routes into Oxford this afternoon as shoppers hit the sales.
Botley Road, Abingdon Road and Banbury Road were all severely congested heading into the city, with traffic particularly slow around the Westgate Centre.
Most delays have now cleared but traffic heading out of the city along Botley Road, towards the Botley Interchange, is now slow as shoppers leave the centre.
Oxfordshire County Council tweeted shortly after midday warning drivers to expect delays, as the shopping centre's 1,000-space car park was full.
Expect delays in #OxfordCity due to #Westgate car park being full. To avoid congestion please use #ParkandRide or public transport #OxonTravel pic.twitter.com/qC7unZoR50

Yesterday also saw increased congestion as bargain-hunters headed for the centre, and Oxford Bus Company had to divert some of its services due to the traffic.
Services 300 and 35 (towards Oxford) are being diverting via Donnington Bridge and Iffley Rd due to heavy traffic on Abingdon Rd.

Services 35 are currently not serving Westgate stop.
