TWO separate crashes caused miles of traffic on the A34 northbound this afternoon.

A two-car collision near Drayton and three-car collision at Hampton Poyle near Kidlington each prompted a lane closure.

The latter was still causing major delays at 1.30pm, with tailbacks stretching back six miles to the Botley Interchange, but delays have since cleared.

The collision is thought to have involved two vehicles that crashed into a broken-down car, and an ambulance was sent to the scene.

The southbound carriageway was also congested, with traffic queuing back to the Wendlebury Interchange, due to people slowing to look at the crash.

On the A34 northbound near Drayton, a separate crash prompted four miles of queues and a response from police.

It is not yet known if anyone was injured.
