A TEENAGER has been arrested after four people were injured when a car smashed in to a stationary taxi.
A marked police car attempted to stop a red Nissan Note on High Street in Oxford shortly before midnight on Christmas Eve.
The driver of the Nissan failed to pull over and continued over Magdalen Bridge towards Headington.
Shortly after, the Nissan was involved in a crash with a 'stationary silver-coloured taxi' outside Andrews Estate Agents in London Road, Headington.
Three passengers in the Nissan Note and the driver of the taxi were taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
Thames Valley Police arrested the 19-year-old driver of the Nissan, from Birmingham, on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He remains in police custody.
Thames Valley Police has also made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct in relation to this incident.
Investigating officer PC Stephanie Varnes, of the Joint Operations Unit for Roads Policing, based at Abingdon, said: “I am appealing to anybody that witnessed this vehicle in and around the centre of Oxford and witnessed the manner of driving, to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 43180391991.
“Unfortunately, a number of people have suffered injuries as a result of the collision, although thankfully, none of them are believed to be life-changing.
“I am also appealing to anybody who may have any dash-cam footage of the collision or the lead-up to the collision, to please get in touch.”
