PLANS for nearly 250 new homes near Wallingford have been given the go ahead.

CALA Homes is set to build 241 houses in Benson, following approval from South Oxfordshire District Council.

Its the second site CALA has acquired in Benson, after it worked on a 187 dwelling Hopefield Grange development off Littleworth Road.

The new site, which extends from Hopefield Grange, will include a range of family homes with a mix of one to two-bedroom apartments, according to the company, which says 40 per cent of the properties will be affordable.

CALA says it will provide a brand new community building and ‘make additional contributions towards other local community facilities’, including ‘investment in green infrastructure’, ecological enhancements through significant planting and sports pitches, as well as a brand new skate park’.

Andrew Aldridge, land director at CALA Homes Chiltern, said: “Following the receipt of outline planning earlier this year, we are thrilled to have received reserved matters approval to deliver this brand new development to Benson.
