WANTAGE MP Ed Vaizey was paid a total of £11,000 for speaking at two private events over the last two months.

According to recently filed Government documents, Mr Vaizey declared the payments after speaking at the Microsoft Business Summit in Romania, for which he was paid £6,507.75 plus VAT in November, and a second speech at UK Cloud Ltd in Wiltshire, for which he received £4,560 plus VAT in December.

The MP was paid the sums for a total of 20.5 hours work, including travel and preparation time.
