GENEROUS villagers at a new housing estate have helped spread Christmas cheer with dozens of food donations.

Drayton developer Bloor Homes set up a station at The Dovecote estate off High Street, where over the past month residents have been dropping off goods for Abingdon Food Bank.

The collection, which featured a range of non-perishable items including cereal, pasta, rice, coffee, tea and tinned produce was delivered this week to the food bank, where it will be used over the festive period to support those in need within the local community.

Hilary Beale, joint coordinator at the food bank said: “We are very grateful to all of the local residents who have got behind Bloor Homes campaign to collect much-needed donations for our food bank.

“For too many people Christmas will not be a time of celebration and the provision of food and those little extra’s will offer hope at a time when people need it most.”

Sales director for Bloor Homes South Midlands, Vanessa Macnee, added: “Community is one of our key focuses at Bloor Homes and it was lovely to see so many residents come together in support of those less fortunate within the local area.

“Abingdon Food Bank does a tremendous job and we hope that the donations from this campaign will help them in their efforts over the forthcoming weeks.”
