STALL holders at this year's Blenheim Palace Christmas Market have been divided over its success.

Some have told the Oxford Mail they enjoyed their time but others said it was a ‘disaster’.

One stall holder who asked not to be named contacted the Oxford Mail on the market's last day on Sunday to say she had been badly disappointed.

She said: “It was an absolute disaster. For the first week there was no advertising and they were still charging to get in. The organisers made big mistakes.

“On the last day there were empty stalls because people had packed up and left thinking it wasn’t worth staying.”

However Hamish Gordon of non-alcoholic gin company The Driver’s Tipple said he was happy with his first experience at the market.

He said if any stall holders had not made any money it might be their own fault for not making enough effort in selling their products.

He said: “We only launched four months ago so we had little expectation, but we had a really good time.

"There were lots of people and we made a lot of sales.

"We even sold out on two occasions. Overall, I’m really happy."

He added: "Those who were complaining were the people sat at the back of their stalls on their phones instead of talking to customers."

Julie Macken, stall holder for Neve’s Bees, said: “It was great. We met some lovely people and made some decent money. I hope to do it again.”

The Oxford Mail attempted to contact the palace for a comment but had not received one at time of going to press.
