A DETACHED house on a residential street is set to be demolished and replaced with a pair of semi-detached homes.

Neil Clarke Architecture has submitted plans to Oxford City Council to demolish number 45 Blenheim Drive, North Oxford, and build the two new homes in its place.

In its planning application the company said it had drawn up the scheme ' in order to meet one of the key objectives of Oxford’s Core Strategy by providing additional family accommodation with Oxford'.

The company went on: "It is proposed to demolish the existing detached building and construct a pair of semi-detached houses, which will make more efficient use of this sustainable brownfield site.

"With due regard to the size and proportion of the site, it is considered to be an inefficient use of land within a

residential area, by virtue of the private garden being larger than those of the existing dwellings neighbours."
