LARGE parts of a station footbridge have been taken down as upgrade work continues.

A crane was used to lift out sections of the scaffold bridge at Didcot Parkway station on Sunday.

By Monday morning the majority of the bridge had been removed with the company saying the final pieces will follow over the next few days.

It comes after the opening of a new footbridge to serve the multi-storey car park at the station on December 4.

The temporary footbridge, which stood to the north of the platforms, was therefore no longer needed and scheduled for deconstruction.

The station was closed throughout the day on Sunday while work was carried out on the track.

Multi-million pound improvement works are ongoing at the station.
