A WOMEN’S rights panel will be held in Oxford today to mark 100 years since women over the age of 30 were able to vote in a General Election for the first time.
Speakers include Dr Helen Pankhurst, author, women’s’ rights activist and granddaughter of Sylvia Pankhurst; Dr Katherine Connelly, a historian, activist and writer, and Dr Katherine Bradley, historian and a co-founder of the Oxford International Women’s Festival.
The event, which is part of Oxford International Women’s Festival, will take place at the Wesley Memorial Hall, New Inn Hall Street, from 6.30pm to 9pm.
It is the latest in a string of events in Oxford to mark the centenary.
On Friday, city councillors and Oxford East MP Anneliese Dodds met at town hall to hold a small ceremony to celebrate the occasion, pictured above.
