WHEN police raided a Traveller site as part of an investigation into modern slavery officers seized numerous stashes of class A drugs, weighing scales and wads of cash, a court heard.

Michael Joyce, 59, his sons Michael Joyce, 26,and John Joyce, 34, all from Redbridge Hollow, Oxford, as well as David Boiling, 33, of Northfield Close, Littlemore, all deny five counts alleging forced labour and modern slavery.

As their trial at Oxford Crown Court continued yesterday prosecutor Kim Preston read to jurors a series of 'agreed facts' - statements which are not disputed between prosecutors and defence teams.

She revealed to the jury that police officers first arrested the men at Redbridge Hollow and at an address in Littlemore on June 6 this year.

Ms Preston said that on searching the Traveller site they discovered various caches of drugs including sealed bags of cocaine and cannabis.

Wads of cash were also found as was a set of weighing scales.

Speaking of the drugs seized jurors were told that in a number of caravans class A drugs were found tucked away in drawers and wardrobes.

Various quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine and cannabis in the form of 'skunk' were found, the court heard, as were 'deal bags' of drugs and wads of cash made up of bank notes valued in the thousands of pounds.

All of the seized items were taken from the Redbridge Hollow site, the court heard, after the men were arrested before later being charged.

The men deny all charges and the trial continues.
